Manuel Ugarte is available for Manchester United’s Europa League round-of-16 second leg against Real Sociedad but Leny Yoro is out.

Ugarte missed the 1-1 draws with Sociedad and Arsenal last week but trained on Wednesday morning and will return to the squad.

Centre back Yoro came off at half-time against Arsenal on Sunday and is not expected to play again until after the March internationals.

Harry Maguire is still sidelined, having sustained an injury in the FA Cup fifth round defeat to Fulham on March 2, but he is due to be back to face former club Leicester City on Sunday.

Mason Mount resumed training on Wednesday after a three-month absence with a hamstring injury but is unlikely to play in either match this week.

“Mason Mount is too soon,” United head coach Ruben Amorim said. “Leny’s out. Harry Maguire cannot play this one but I hope to have him for Sunday. Manu is on the squad and I think there is no one returning.”

Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton, Jonny Evans, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo and Amad are also still sidelined. Chido Obi is ineligible.

United have drawn their last three games 1-1 but are unbeaten in nine Europa League matches this season. They have not lost at home in the competition since Sociedad won 1-0 at Old Trafford in the 2022 group stage.

Winning the Europa League would salvage what is shaping up to be United’s worst domestic season since they were relegated in 1974. They are 14th in the Premier League and out of both domestic cup competitions.

A second Europa League triumph would also secure Champions League qualification for next season. “In that context it is also important,” Amorim acknowledged.

“It gives us more energy to continue the season. We know that. It is not going to change a lot the idea for the next season but it will give us more energy to finish the season in a different way.

“So tomorrow, again, is going to be a really important game for us.”
